In my opinion the study of subcultures in contrast with the video of the Bangkok's 'Mexican' Gangsters have a lot in common because in the text they explain that subcultures can be represented by the clothes that people wear, the style that people have, but sometimes this style is something "cool" and very commercial and it can be really hard to know if it is a subculture or something trendy.
In the other hand for example if someone wear the same clothes of some subculture doesn't mean that this people have the same way of thinking of the the people that wear that clothes. The perfect example is the Bangkok's 'Mexican' Gangsters, that they like to wear the clothes of Mexican Gangsters, but they don't do the things that Mexican Gangsters do. For example the they don´t have "cartel" of drugs, they don't sell drugs, instead they are common citizens that respect the law. These Bangkok's 'Mexican' Gangsters have jobs in the day, some of them work with the government.
Is very fascinating this subculture because Bangkok is very far from Mexico and they began to wear that clothes because was very comfortable for them and is very "fresh", so they "copy" the style, the tattoo and the rap, but they didn't "copy" the way of act or thinking.
Finally, is very amazing how internet can bring us a lot of information, these group of people began these subculture only whacking videos and information of internet. Not bad ah?
It is true, the power of technology in people's life is big, now internet can change the world easily because the distances become shorter. We can see that subcultures not always take the bad part of one culture.
ResponderEliminarIt's truly fascinating how people behave and how they adopt styles, which can vary from clothing to music taste, even though Mexico and Thailand are thousands of kilometers apart.
